Haiku bring artists, activists, and poetry together

The Mural Arts Program’s Peace is a Haiku Song engages the community in an exploration of the haiku as a vehicle for peace and urban transformation.

Continuing their long-running and fruitful partnership with us, the Mural Arts Program commissioned Bluecadet to create an interactive online campaign for users to submit their own haiku. The result is a beautiful, simple microsite that prompts visitors to share their work while engaging with other writers.

Haikus can be submitted via Twitter, which is fully integrated, or through the website itself. Visitors can learn about and watch video of Sonia Sanchez, the poet / activist / educator whose vision catalyzed the project. They can sort through recent, popular, or featured haiku, favoriting, Liking, Tweeting, and tagging poems as they go.

The site is fully responsive and therefore mobile compatible, resizing to fit all devices’ browsers. The site brings together writers, artists, poetry lovers, and activists to one interactive, thought-provoking, art-inspiring place.
