A Museum That Talks to Its Visitors
ICA Boston had archive upon archive of amazing and unique art, but a limited amount of physical space. They asked us to design a kiosk that would make their collections easily accessible while simultaneously fostering a dialogue between the museum, its artists, and its visitors.
The solution we crafted is artistic in its simplicity. The kiosk complements ICA’s contemporary art by enhancing it with contemporary technology. Our navigation gives users two choices: browse the galleries or engage with the museum community on the question of ‘what is art’. We also enabled users to communicate directly through the artwork, implementing an image tagging system that allows them to exchange thoughts, descriptions and interpretations of everything in the collection. By using our art to maximize the accessibility of ICA’s, we like to think we created a masterpiece.
