HAIR
This promotional campaign for the revival of the classic love-rock Broadway musical Hairincludes six posters illustrating modern hairstyles and featuring each of the main characters. The fully illustrated script book features imagery from the show and design elements from the posters.
"For this series I chose to incorporate hand drawn elements with collaged black and white imagery to portray the fluidity and movement of each hairstyle, and to put a strong focus on the hair itself. A vibrant contemporary color palette put a modern spin on the classic musical."
CARNY CORN
Carny Corn is a gourmet popping kernel company, and they commissioned a packaging design for three of their whimsical flavors. The packaging includes three custom printed canvas kernel bags held by a custom crate carrier with transferred typography. The design was featured on Lovely Package and in Applied Arts magazine.
"I used vintage broadsides as typographic inspiration, and incorporated manipulated sepia-toned photos onto the canvas bags. Pairing three reoccurring characters in side show acts of the past with three gourmet popcorn flavors made each flavor memorable."
WORLD BARISTA CHAMPIONSHIP
This promotional campaign for the 2012 World Barista Championships features three iconic San Francisco landmarks. The "Precision" poster was named Best In Show in CMYK's first ever “Posters Only” Competition. The project was most recently featured on designworklife.
"Each poster depicts a skill that the barista contestant is judged upon, like precision, speed, and expertise. I paired three of San Francisco's most iconic landmarks with these three categories, changing each building slightly by manipulating one small aspect of the architecture itself."
MAMMAL: COMMITTED?
Mammal, a company that puts on exhibitions focusing on the human condition, needed to promote an informative exhibition entitled "Committed?". This promotional poster series focuses on the many different types of marriage in modern America. Each poster incorporates a tagline, statistics, and simple icons.
"I chose to incorporate simple and easily recognizable icon imagery with shocking facts to bring attention to these three types of marriage."
GET YOUR FILLADELPHIA
This mini-book series features six neighborhood guides to the best food in Philly. In each book, readers can find: neighborhood history, a list of top ten hot spots, a map of the neighborhood, a local flavor section, a top five "must" eat or drink item list, and a special take-away item in the back of each book (like seat savers, checklists, and coupons).
"I chose to focus on the impressive culinary scene in Philadelphia for my Senior project at Tyler School of Art. Funnily, the design took less than half the time of the writing itself. Color is essential in the categorizing of the set, and a library of over 25 icons is used throughout the series for cohesiveness and clarity."
